Handmade in Spain: A New Collection of Tableware and Textiles from Design Stars Quintana Partners

Back in the summer of 2016, our friend Megan Wilson returned from the Spanish island of Menorca with a tip: we ought to check out the work of local designers Benito Escat and Pol Castells of Quintana Partners. We liked what we saw so much that that was seven features ago.

Benito and Pol pair raw historic settings with vintage finds in refreshingly playful ways: see, for instance, Kitchens That are Both Old and New; Casa Telmo, The Island Hotel; and The Former Plant Nursery Turned Vacation Retreat. More recently, we’ve watched theem open a busy live/work Barcelona office and complete projects all over, including their latest boutique hotel, Château des Fleurs, near the Champs Elysées (and a second Paris hotel is on the way).

Benito and Pol have also just launched the House of Quintana, a collection of their decorative designs that will shift seasonally. Up first: tableware and textiles presented in Quintana Partners’s beautifully timeworn settings.

Above: “We are a tad eccentric,” write Benito and Pol. “We don’t create spaces, we design moments.” Shown here, their hand-painted,  footed Ceramic Flower Vases made in Barcelona; €127 each. The Quintana Collection also has a “heritage” department: these French XIII Armchairs in their original upholstery are €4,150 for the pair.
Above: Striped Burnt Pink Pillows of 100 percent linen are €196, insert included.
Above: A circa 1850, hand-carved Oval Mahogany Side Table, €5,600, displays House of Quintana Twirl Cutlery of stainless steel with twisted handles, €32 for a four-piece place setting; Dessert Plates, €36.90 each; and Linen Napkins with Stitching, €29.90 a pair.
Above: Wine Glasses with “swirl-colored bases in orange” are €19.90 a pair. The stemware also comes in green. These porcelain Dinner Plates, €36.90, and other House of Quintana ceramics are made in collaboration with Barcelona tableware company The Platera.
Above: Straight lines meet squiggly: a cotton-linen Embroidered Striped Tablecloth, from €89.90, and Embroidered Linen Napkins, €24.90 a pair.
Above: House of Quintana Cutlery with Handwoven Rattan Handles; €27.90. As you might suspect: they’re not dishwasher safe.
Above: Quintana Partners encourage freely mixing all of the pieces: here, their Embroidered Striped Tablecloth, €89.90; porcelain Dessert Plates, €36.90; and dark green Linen Napkins with Stitching, €29.90 a pair.
